After buying a new LCD, (finally! -I had a standard tube monitor up until last month), I decided to not only clean the desk underneath as a fresh start, and to vacuum and clean around the desk. I also went the extra mile and opened up the PC and vacuumed ( after using some canned air to blow the dust out to where my vacuum to get to it).

What a difference in performance ! ( and what a mess it was inside.. dust ball-city).

Right now, it’s 92 degrees outside and no A/C inside (turned off) . And here’s my PC temperature guage:

.

The “1729″ would normally easily climb to 2500 meaning the fan is just working too damn hard. And the “41″ in the processor zone would jump up to “55″, which is the point at which things start to hang up easily on my PC.

It takes at the most 20 minutes to turn off the PC, unplug everything, take off the cover and blow out the dust from the hard-to-reach places, and then vacuum it. I’d recommend it.
