When I mention Jquery in an interview, or to a fellow programmer, they think I’m talking about something related to Java, since a lot of java stuff starts with ‘J’ (such as jboss).

But,.. no, it’s a wrapper for Javascript and Ajax. And that’s a very pathetic understatement to just call it a library, or a wrapper. It’s a new way of doing javascript.

I have been looking for a way to organize my collection of programming links, resources, tools, local folders on my PC, etc..

And I was thinking of using UltraEdit or another editor like notepad++, to be the editor of this “reference resource” (saving everything as html ) and then the Viewer would simply be my browser.

It makes total sense, since I always have a browser open - by going to a bookmark, I have instant access to my collection of resources. But I’ve always wanted a way to also use the web interface to do the editing.

So if I come across some new resource such as a new third party library, or download a some PDF’s that I need frequent access to, I can just edit this in place, right square on the web page in the browser.

But I do not need a separate editor now since finding TiddlyWiki.

It’s basically just a local html file that saves itself when you make a change. But it’s got some mega-Javascript in the html which provides the magic.

I remember seeing this and making an attempt at it around a year ago but I forgot why I passed it by. I guess I thought it was “unrefined” or something, because of the way that you save the changes to itself. I thought it was clunky.

It’s become a very popular thing, with it’s own Google group. There also many people creating plugins for it, as well as customized versions with different layouts.

It’s almost impossible to explain this so that you’ll know what this is.

I have been putting off reading this particular PHP book, mainly because I had been beefing up my main core skills/knowledge such as OO, XML, CSS, Javascript, and didn’t see a need to check out the “recipes” in this book.

This post will be like a first draft before I post this review on Amazon.

It’s very packed full of stuff that, instead of thinking: “i might need this particularly obscure thing later, but then again probably not”, you’ll probably consider getting a lot of use out of at least 75% of the “hack” recipes eventually.

It’s lazy blog time (dont’ want to write anything)

So I’ll just mention some good top ten lists related to programming:

http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000822.html

My favorite is the one at the top: The 10 Commandments of Egoless Programming

I have been using TodoList by abstractspoon.com for about a month now, and I was easily impressed enough to donate to the author, but not as much as I probably should have for the usefulness of it.

I first started using it only as a “defect/feature” master list for one of my web sites.

What do you do when you’ve got a choice between two different electronic gadgets, both of which would definitely fill an important need of yours, but the cost of either of them isn’t exactly chump-change.

The Sony Reader

I gotta say, it looks mighty healthy with respect to meeting my needs finally.

I originally mentioned my frustration here about not having a device for organizing all of my Ebooks that I have not read yet, and getting them onto some kind of portable device that I could read away from the PC.

But there is such incredible value in NOT getting lost while driving!.

So what you have is another semi-expensive device called The Garmin..

Too bad that Garmin and Sony can’t just see my dilemma and go to work on a device such as an EReader that also tells me where to drive, or a GPS device that also holds Ebooks! I would be very grateful, but I don’t foresee a lot of cooperation there, just for my needs.

I always appreciate it when a retailer can come up with a witty and humourous way of asking for the serious cooperation of its customers.

In a coffee bar down the street, there is a small sign right near where you get your sugar and cream.

The sign says:

“Any kids that are left alone will be given a double shot of expresso and given a free puppy.”

I forgot the actual wording, so I will need to return tomorrow and get it exactly right, but you can get it’s intending meaning, I’m sure.

Found this website while reading a news feed somewhere. It’s packed solid of all kinds of resources for web development. Everything from a list of forums, code libraries, tutorials, free open source web templates, etc.

One of the best finds on this page is a page containing Cheat-Sheets for various programming languages:
